Heads up: Emerald Island

San Francisco, California-based Fluid Entertainment is readying its new original kids MMOG Emerald Island for release this fall.

The eco-friendly game challenges players to become online heroes working to save their imaginary virtual world from environmental destruction.

A pre-launch look at the game can be found at www.emeraldisland.com. Fluid Entertainment has partnered with Trees for the Future to plant 10 trees for every child that participates in the Beta testing phase.

During the Beta period, the game is available for download; at launch it will be available as a web based application.

Founded in 1998, Fluid is primarily known for creating interactive product based on kids entertainment licenses, including Harry Potter, characters from the Disney stable, the Powerpuff Girls and Pokémon.

Looks cute!!  It’s a download (and I’m currently LOATH to download anything more at the moment).  Once I have some breathing room on my blessed laptop, I’ll jump in.

It’s eco friendly – so that adds another one on the list of good-doing virtual environments.  I wonder how these VWs are doing with their messages?  It’ll be fun to see the positive outcomes.
