Schneider’s Bakery Back for Nickelodeon!

Producer/writer/actor Dan Schneider is creating another new series for Nickelodeon, this one starring Victoria Justice (15) who played Lola in Schneider and Nickelodeon’s series Zoey 101, per Variety.  Schneider is developing the series, which is set in a school for performing arts, in partnership with Sony BMG Music, and thus original music will be included in the show. The plan will also see Justice co-star in Nick’s new original TV movie titled Spectacular.  Schneider has created/written/produced some of Nick’s most popular shows including iCarly, Zoey 101 and Drake & Josh, and as a young adult starred on the sitcom Head of the Class (ABC 1986-91) as well as a number of movies.

Cynthia Turner’s Cynopsis – Cyn Kids 8/12/08

OH YAY.  It’s been quite some time since I gushed about my adoration for Dan Schneider and his tween TV programs.  Perhaps because of my temporary disappointment in a little Spears who kinda blurred the lines there with appropriate role modeling.

I’m very excited to see what kind of kid-empowerment Dan dreams up this time with Victoria as his lead vehicle.  The Sony BMG Music partnership is a VERY smart idea – especially given the new course of Miranda Cosgrove’s “musical” career (if you hadn’t noticed, she just released a CD of music tied to her show iCarly, which I love).   And with Drake Bell (another musician/Schneider Alumni, now with a budding movie career in the college-kid comedy market) and Josh Peck (who just took a step towards a stronger movie career with Whacked, which kinda freaked me out – I don’t know how I feel about seeing sweet, lovable Josh looking stoned out of his head… reminds me a bit of his appearance on Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards this year… sad.  Fingers crossed its a phase).

Anywho, the idea of kids at a school for performing arts = very smart, especially with all the youth-based support in varoius dance & music based television shows lately.

Dan, as always, has his pulse on what kids want to watch… and I’m psyched to see what he has up his sleeve this time.  So, rock on Schneider’s Bakery.
